A custom diamond order begins by separating natural and lab-grown diamond, then recording the requirements that matter for the piece. Nicki coordinates the design, metal, setting, dimensions, target weight, stone position, documentation and commercial terms before production begins.
Natural and lab-grown diamonds are separate choices
Natural and lab-grown diamonds share the same basic crystalline-carbon composition, but differ in origin and market context. The choice should be stated explicitly. Moissanite is a different material and is never inserted into a diamond specification without a disclosed change approved by the buyer.
For significant centre stones, buyers may request a report from an agreed grading laboratory. Small melee stones can have a different documentation position. The quote should state what is supplied, what is independently reported and what is source-declared.
The 4Cs belong inside a complete design brief
Carat, colour, clarity and cut influence appearance and price, but they do not replace jewellery engineering. The brief also needs stone shape and count, setting type, metal purity and colour, dimensions, height, fastening, engraving, wear conditions and target finished weight.
Where budget requires trade-offs, Nicki coordinates options for approval. A lower setting, different stone distribution or revised dimensions may change durability and appearance. Nothing should be substituted only because it looks similar in one photograph.
Evidence, quotation and production
The approved quote records the diamond origin position, metal, core measurements, finish, quantity and evidence requirement. Any claim such as natural, certified, VVS or a specific purity needs an identified basis for that order rather than inherited supplier copy.
After approval, the manufacturing and quality-control stages are coordinated around the product. Worldwide delivery terms are then confirmed for the destination, including courier, insurance position, tracking and possible duties or taxes.
Questions to settle before ordering
Can I choose natural or lab-grown diamond?
Potential options depend on the design and source. The selected origin, stone requirements and documentation position are confirmed in writing before production.
Does certified mean every small stone has a report?
Not necessarily. Reports often apply to identified centre stones. The documentation position for smaller set stones must be confirmed separately.
Can an image prove a diamond is natural?
No. Stone origin and grade cannot be proven from an image; they require an agreed verification and documentation basis.
